  • 100 g chopped hazelnuts
  • 100 g of chocolate chips
  • 250 g of butter
  • 250 g of sugar
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Half a sachet of baking powder
For decoration:
  • 1 egg white
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 250 g icing sugar
  • Food coloring of your choice
  • Sugar pearls

Procedure for biscuits to hang on the Christmas tree

Knead the shortcrust pastry by starting to mix the flour and the butter at room temperature; then, quickly add the sugar, hazelnuts, chocolate, yeast and eggs, without working for a long time. Let the dough rest for half an hour in the refrigerator, covered with cling film. After the resting time, roll it out to a thickness of about 0.5 cm. Cut out the dough with the appropriate cookie cutters. Make a hole in the top of the biscuit with a straw; the hole will be used later to insert the ribbon. Bake at 180° C for about 20 minutes. Beat the egg white, pouring in the powdered sugar and lemon juice. Color the icing as desired, put it in the piping bag with a pointed nozzle and decorate the cookies with sugar pearls. When the icing is dry, insert a satin ribbon into each cookie and decorate your Christmas tree!
